·      No paraphrasing from any written source or the test will have earned a Zero.

10 points each:

1.     Give a step by step explanation of how to align the body for singing.
2.     Discuss the role of voice science in singing and voice education.
3.     Name and discuss the five areas involved in the vocal process according to function and how they interrelate.
4.     Discuss some techniques for relaxing body tensions, aligning the body and warming up the voice.
5.     Name and describe the four phases and action of the respiratory system during the inspiratory-expiratory cycle.
6.     Describe three exercises for helping students with breathing.
7.     Name and describe the three types of phonation and the three ways of initiating and releasing tone.
8.     What are the characteristics of efficient vocal tone?

Laryngologist Field Trip - Friday March 14

For anyone who is able to attend, the class will take a field trip to Dr. Zoller, Laryngologist, on Friday March 14.

We will meet at Kennedy at 1pm and carpool to the office.

We will return to SSU by 3pm

If you require a note of excuse to attend, one will be provided.

This is an excellent opportunity to ask questions of a practicing laryngologist who has years of experience working with professional opera singers and vocalists.

Please do your best to attend!
